Our Secret Honeymoon Destination

Daniel asked me one question before planning our honeymoon and that was, "Which direction do you want to go?" I told him south. :)

Daniel kept the location a secret from everyone...including me.

We spent our first night in a beautiful old home in Valdosta, GA. I could just kick myself for not taking a picture of the outside of it. It was absolutely gorgeous. They had a Gone With the Wind themed sitting room, but I have to admit that the cutouts of Scarlett O'Hara freaked me out in the dark. :)
These pictures aren't the best, but the lighting was extremely low. :/
Freaky Scarlett.
 Loved the staircase.

The next morning Daniel woke me up bright and early to begin our adventure. *I'm not a morning person and there was no coffee..... :) I made it though, and we had a beautiful drive through Florida.

Daniel informed me that we had to travel fast because we had to catch a ferry to our honeymoon spot. I had to go to Walmart and get a weeks worth of groceries because where we were headed didn't have a Walmart or a grocery store. Yes, I spent an hour gathering supplies and yes I bought enough food for an army. Knowing I can't go to Walmart for a week just scares me.
We got turned around trying to find our bus to the ferry, but after a couple of frantic phone calls we made it! The guys that unloaded our stuff and the hundred lbs. of groceries were super sweet and told me that it didn't matter that my load was just slightly over what I was supposed to bring on board. ;)

 Waiting for the ferry.
As we left the shore a storm had just rolled in, but we had beautiful blue skies as we made our way to the island.

After about a 30 min ferry ride we arrived at the beautiful North Captiva Island.
I loved all the bright colors.
The house we stayed in was called the Little Oasis.
The living room.

We had a private pool.
The view from the roof. Isn't it gorgeous?

I love seeing a storm out at sea.
I found a coconut!!!
And then I found MORE!!!!! *I have a thing for coconuts.*

The island had a very private feel to it. We honestly saw more staff than vacationers. There were no cars on the island. Everyone drove golf-carts.  :)

Driving by the shore.

Daniel has had fresh coconut when he has traveled over seas and he wanted me to try some...He worked for about half an hour to get the blasted thing open and broke a kitchen knife in the process. I tried to act like I really liked it, but I gagged. :P That kinda gave it away. :)

Love this guy.
We both love cooking and we pretty much made every meal together.
Grilled chicken salad. #foodpictures
#thishappened Coke makes me come alive. ;)
Early one morning we walked to a beautiful secluded beach that had millions of seashells. This image was not altered...The sky was really that vivid!

One night we walked down to the beach to watch the sunset (again...straight out of the camera). God is amazing.

  1. Looks like you guys had an amazing time! Jamie and I missed the flight to our honeymoon and had to stay with friends in Atlanta for the first day we were married, so I know that panic y'all must have been feeling about missing the ferry ;)

  3. Oh my goodness, Loribeth! That had to be very stressful. :/ If we had missed the ferry it was going to cost us about $200. So yes, we were in a state of panic. haha
